Maunulan kirjasto, Helsinki

January 2017
Maunula Library, one of the smaller branch libraries in Helsinki City Library has moved in December 2016 to new premises in Maunulatalo (Maunula House) together with youth activities and adult education. The site wall to wall to a big supermarket and close to public transport is very good. The building and the interior represent a high quality of architecture. Unfortunately the library space is insufficient in relation to the number of visitors. There are too few seats and desks for reading and studies. The collection of books and magazines is limited in foreign languages. The atmosphere is noisy and the separate quiet room is too small for those who prefer a peaceful surrounding. The activities seem to be under implementation in the new premises and with some improvements this library could easily reach four stars. THREE stars: Good.
