Leksands bibliotek

  • August 2023

Leksand is a town of about 16 000 inhabitants situated on the shore of the lake Siljan. It is well-known because of its strong local cultural tradition and of its ice hockey team.  Leksands bibliotek (Leksand municipal library), a museum and a local history archive are in the same wooden building, a house for culture, with a central site. The interior of the library is inviting and cosy.  The areas for children and young people are spacious and nice. A tempting specialty is the balcony for reading. There is a central and visible service and information desk. The library has unstaffed opening hours with no person in service in the morning and even in the middle of the day during lunch hours. Unfortunately, there is no café or no vending machine for refreshments. The newspaper area is not inspiring. FOUR stars: Very good
