Lahden kaupunginkirjasto, Lahti

June 2017
Lahden kaupunginkirjasto (Lahti City Library) is a typical Finnish library building, white colour in combination with wooden elements. The library was opened in 1990. It has undergone many changes during the latest years. Big windows, high ceiling and open areas create an inviting atmosphere. There are many nice social and quiet areas for reading and studying. There are also several special rooms for different kinds of activities like playing instruments, playing games and editing digital material. Close to the entrance there is a café and the city info, a service run by the municipality. The collection is of high quality and well exposed. An interesting detail is the design of the signs of the shelves which are clear and flexible. FIVE stars: Excellent.
