Jelgavas Pilsetas Biblioteka

  • August 2019

Jelgava with its 60 000 inhabitants is the fourth biggest city in Latvia and was once the capital of the Duchy of Courland. The city´s historic centre and other buildings were heavily damaged during the second world war and there are only a small couple of older buildings left. Jelgavas Pilsetas Biblioteka (Jelgava City Library) is situated in one of them. The premises have been renovated with high ambitions but with too small resources.  One main problem still is that there is no lift in this building with three floors. There are positive facts like the service minded staff, computer area, free wifi and outside signs.  But to sum up:This is a very traditional library. TWO stars: Acceptable.
