Biblioteca Municipal San Fernando de Maspalomas, San Bartolomé de Tirajana

Biblioteca Municipal San Fernando de Maspalomas (The Public Library San Fernando Maspalomas) is located in Centro Cultural de Maspalomas (The Cultural Centre Maspalomas). It is not the only cultural centre in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, 55 000 inhabitants. This municipality is known for its tourist resorts San Agustín, Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. The building is situated in San Fernando, a not touristic area of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Cultural Centre was opened in the early 1990´s. The institution has a high level of ambition. There is a lot of space for the library, the concert hall and the auditorium. The building is centrally located close to other municipal services like schools and sport areas. There are a lot of study places in the library but no cosy seating areas or places to work in groups, many people together. The collection includes fiction for guests in several languages. In the whole the collection is variegated and is not up to date in many theme areas. The use of the library is free. There are very few computers for public use, but the wifi is free. The accessibility is limited to the second floor and to the lavatories. This library could without high costs easily get an additional star. TWO stars: Acceptable.
