Biblioteca Municipal Ary dos Santos, Sacavém

This branch library in the city of Sacavém is dedicated to the local author and poet Ary dos Santos. With the name and with its activities the library emphasizes that it is really a very important place for local people. The building is designed by the city architect and it was opened in June 2016.  The design is light and stylish. There is a spacious lecture hall connected with a courtyard. The open interior solution in several floors causes some acoustic problems. The collection is quite limited but compared to other Portuguese libraries there is an unusually high degree of cooperation. The library in its network offers users the possibility to get media from other libraries. There is also support for the customers in use of information technology. THREE stars: Good.
