Stadsbiblioteket Göteborg

  • September 2015

Göteborg, Gothenburg, can be called the Capital of Literature in Sweden. Here the biggest book and library fair in the Nordic countries is arranged every year. The main library is situated at the busy street Kungsportsavenyn and Götaplatsen with its cultural institutions. The library is a well-known meeting point in the Sweden’s second biggest city. The library, inaugurated by the famous children author Astrid Lindgren in 1967, is renovated and enlarged. Important for the library profile are activities for toddlers and their families and for youth. The building containing several open floors creates acoustic problems and some areas can be very noisy. FIVE stars: Excellent.
