Biblioteca Civica Gambalunga, Rimini

  • September 2017

The Biblioteca Civica Gambalunga (Gambalunga Civic Library) is located in the city centre of Rimini. It has been built up around a historical collection from the 17th century in a Palace from the same period. Once this was the generous bequest of the Riminese lawyer Alessandro Gambalunga. This part of the library is closed and can be visited only by request. The activities around the historical collection has developed into a more or less modern library that aims at general information for all. The library is, however, a mixture of a research and public library. For example the children´s department is situated apart and has much shorter opening hours. Even if the collections consist of all kind of media the interior and the service are more similar to the traditional research libraries. The library remembers the city´s famous director Federico Fellini by showing pictures from the shooting of the film Amarcord. ONE star: Poor.
