Firenze, Florence in English, is well-known for its history and culture. The population of the city with 360 000 inhabitants is during many months of the year outnumbered by tourists. In the crowded city centre Biblioteca Della Oblate offers a quiet and peaceful oasis. The library which was opened in 2007 is situated very close to the cathedral, Duomo di Firenze. The premises are located in an old hospital building which has been expanded with a modern annex. In its marketing this library highlights reading, studies, meeting friends and relaxation. And really: the café, the courtyard and the balconies are great areas to be social in the Mediterranean climate. Indoors there are not many areas to be social. The orientation and accessibility are not the easiest ones in this complex building. The opening hours are generous from Wednesday to Saturday. Monday and Tuesday have shorter opening hours and on Sundays the library is closed. The library offers a lot of different cultural activities for adults and children. THREE stars: Good
